Ukrainian Stamp Albums

Published: 20 March 2015
Hits: 4193

Once you begin collecting modern Ukrainian stamps, having a dedicated album makes it much easier to organize and enjoy your collection. Below you will find three different album projects created by members of our society, each with its own style and level of detail.

The Bandura Collectibles pages provide professionally produced, high‑quality album pages for those who want a more polished, ready-to-use solution. The Tryzub Ukrainian Stamp Album offers free, downloadable pages designed for collectors who prefer to print and assemble their own albums at home. The third option, created by Stepan Moskal, presents a comprehensive treatment of modern Ukrainian issues with bilingual text and detailed write‑ups. Together, these three albums give modern Ukraine collectors a strong range of choices—from do‑it‑yourself to fully finished pages.

Bandura Collectibles

Since 1999 Bandura Collectibles (previously Bandura Philatelic Services) has been preparing dedicated and specific album display pages for contemporary postage stamps of Ukraine issued since March 1992.

Bandura Collectibles, which is based in Adelaide, South Australia, is operated by George Fedyk. George is the current secretary and treasurer of the Ukrainian Collectibles Society (UCS) of Australia, the current UPNS Vice-President for Australasia, and a past editor of The Southern Collector and Ukrainian Philatelist journals. He has had a postage stamp issued by Ukrposhta (St. Michael’s Church in February 2007) and in 2024 released the catalogue Ukrainian Underground Post (Pidpilna Poshta Ukrainy) 1949-1983. He has extensive international contacts and is well known around Australia for preparing and displaying diverse and extensive aspects of Ukrainica collecting.

For Ukraine postage stamp issues to the end of 2024 a total of 286 pages has been prepared plus a cover page and an introduction page. Pages are prepared yearly and are made available only in printable electronic pdf format.

Each individually numbered page contains colour images of stamps and souvenir sheets with issue title (and where required a brief description), issue date, designer and quantity information. Each stamp box has a 3 mm gap from the stamp and is designed that stamps be placed in clear Hawid mounts. Page size is 214 mm x 280 mm and has a border 10 mm from the edge. Pages are designed to meet international display conventions and fit into both Australian A4 and North American ‘letter size’ clear display sleeves.

Pages are now only available in printable pdf format and will be emailed to interested persons. Cost is US $10.00 for each calendar year. Payment is through PayPal only. Please contact George Fedyk for further details.

Tryzub Ukrainian Stamp Album

The Tryzub Ukrainian Stamp Album is my attempt at making an album of Ukrainian postage stamps that has descriptions on the page for each stamp, hopefully making the album far more enjoyable for non-collectors, and people who are unfamiliar with Ukrainian history, politics and culture. Pictures are included on all the pages to make mounting easier for people unable to read Cyrillic.

Pages are currently available for Ukrainian stamps from 1992-2008. I hope to have everything through 2011 completed by the end of the year.

All stamp names are taken from ukrposhta.com and translated into English using Wikipedia spellings. I did this to make Internet searches easier for people that want to learn more about the topics on the stamps.

The pages are designed using completely free tools and fonts. I use the free desktop publishing application Scribus to design my pages, and the fonts Liberation Sans and League Gothic, also completely free. Pages are available in PDF format, as well as the original Scribus Desktop Publishing files for other people to edit. Current pages are in US Letter, but I am working on A4 as well.

I hope as many people as possible make use of these pages and they inspire people to collect Ukrainian stamps.

Ukraine Stamp Album

I started creating this album in 1998 for myself because I could not find anything that was available. Then 2 friends of mine saw it and wanted to purchase it. They are still buying pages to this day. In 2001 I started to sell it to other people.

The album has all the stamps, souvenir blocks and booklets that have been issued by UKRPOSHA since 1992 up until 2011. All the scans are of the stamps that I have purchased. It comes in both Ukrainian and English. Each page has a picture of the stamps, date of issue and short description. The full album has 168 pages. All pages are brilliant white standard letter size and 100lb paper. It comes with the size of mounts for each stamp.

Prices 1992-2011:
Colour pages: -$120
Black and White pages: -$90
Album with all mount: -$380
Additional pages: -$1.50 per page
Additional pages with mounts: -$3.00

The UkrPoshta Stamp Program for 2015 features 8 blocks and 38 stamps.  This year Ukraine and Poland are issuing a joing issue.  Poland is no stranger when it comes to working closely with Ukraine on joint projects.  The last successful joint venture were the 2014 FIFA games and a number of beautiful stamps were issued as a result.  As well a last minute addition to the program is a stamp commemorating the anniversary of the Heavenly Hundred who gave their lives to depose a president during the 2014 EuroMaidan revolution.

Issue dates are subject to change by Ukraine Post.  The program is valid as of February 2, 2015.

Canada 100th Anniversary First Internment Camp Stamp

Published: 06 March 2015
Hits: 8618

Canada 100th Internment16 December 2014 - Ottawa - The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) is pleased to announce that a stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of Canada's First National Internment Operations is available for purchase.

During the First World War, thousands of Canadians, many of them of Ukrainian heritage, were designated "enemy aliens" and incarcerated under the War Measures Act in 24 internment camps across Canada, not for what they had done but for who they were or where they had come from. The Endowment Council of the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund (CFWWIRF), undertook to design a Canada Post Picture Postage Permanent Stamp as part of their efforts to ensure that the story of Canada's First National Internment Operations of 1914-1920 receive proper recognition among Canadians. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress has organized these stamps to be made available to the general public through a grant by the Endowment Council of the CFWWIRF.

LEMBERG: Cosmopolitan Crownland Capital of the Austrian Empire

Published: 16 September 2014

lemberg-kuzychUkrainian Philatelic Resources is proud to announce the release of its first full-color publication, the long-awaited record of Dr. Ingert Kuzych’s diamond award-winning exhibit LEMBERG: Cosmopolitan Crownland Capital of the Austrian Empire.

This volume, however, is much more than just a reproduction of Dr. Kuzych’s display – which is a chronicle of the postal history of Lviv/Lwow during the century and a half that it was under Austrian Habsburg rule (1772-1918). Introductory chapters present information on how the exhibit came to be assembled and on the evolution of the postal system in Central Europe in the three centuries prior to the Austrian period. (The latter chapter is an expansion of the “Before Lemberg” articles that appeared in Austria No. 182, Polonus Nos. 550-52, and Ukrainian Philatelist No. 109.)
